Objectif général

To ensure the long-term protection of over 300 Grauer’s gorillas and 200-400 eastern chimpanzees in lowaltitude forests.
Objectif spécifique
Increasing great ape habitat protected by the Nkuba-Biruwe Conservation Project from 700 km2 to approximately 1000 km2 by surveying forested areas between Maiko and Kahuzi-Biega National Parks likely to host unknown gorilla populations
Objectif spécifique
Surveying mining camps located in, or adjacent to, the Nkuba-Biruwe Conservation Area and reducing the impact of these camps on wildlife
Objectif spécifique
Fostering collaboration between local community and government parks personnel to increase gorilla protection in Maiko National Park and adjacent community forests
Objectif spécifique
Promoting the designation of legal conservation status for the community reserves.
