Objectif général

To conserve a population of approximately 300 Grauer’s gorillas in an unprotected forested area between Kahuzi-Biega and Maiko National Parks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Objectif spécifique
Training additional teams of trackers and data technicians to simultaneously protect known gorilla groups and survey and monitor other wildlife and human activities;
Objectif spécifique
Exploring forests located north and east of the current Nkuba-Biruwe conservation area and estimating gorilla population sizes in these areas;
Objectif spécifique
Locating human settlements in these unexplored regions using high-resolution satellite images;
Objectif spécifique
Setting up and systematically involving local communities in long-term conservation activities in the areas where gorillas have been found.
