This will be done by providing advanced training in applied conservation research and facilitating opportunities for Goualougo Triangle Ape Project (GTAP) staff to link this information directly to conservation policy; promoting leadership of GTAP staff in great ape health monitoring initiatives (including training in new technologies for data collection and expansion of worker health programs); implementing a mentoring program which prepares research assistants to increase their participation in local, regional and international conservation advocacy; and involving GTAP’s research staff in enhanced surveillance and monitoring activities, such as Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) to protect at-risk ape populations along the southeast border of the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park.
