Objectif général
To implement a community-based conservation program on main hawksbill nesting beaches on the Island of Sao Tome to address threats from poaching, predation, and beach erosion.

Training community rangers to conduct daily nighttime patrols to deter poaching on 23 km of hawksbill nesting beaches throughout the nesting season;

Relocation of nests threatened by predators, poachers, and tidal inundation to beach hatcheries;

Workshops with local police and government officials about laws protecting sea turtles and conflict resolution to deal with the entrenched history of turtle and egg exploitation;

Alternative livelihood workshops with tortoise shell carvers and fishers.
