Objectif général
To conduct nesting beach conservation programs along 80 km of coastline to protect nests and nesting females from poaching and to conduct a sea turtle bycatch release program with artisanal gill net fishers.
Objectif spécifique
Activities include patrolling nesting beaches and nest relocation to beach hatcheries, working with fishers to release captured turtles in exchange for net materials to compensate for damaged nets, and an ecotourism program around turtle releases with 40 percent of funds going to local communities. Approximately 1700 turtles are released annually with this program.
