Extending and Improving the Effective Management of Protected Areas in the Maringa-Lopori-Wamba (MLW) Landscape, and Disincentivizing Illegal Hunting and the Bushmeat Trade
To stop the hunting of bonobo and forest elephant in the Maringa-Lopori- Wamba landscape in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which potentially covers over 20% of the estimated bonobo distribution range. It builds the government’s capacity to effectively manage protected areas and enforce the laws regarding protected species, and works with local communities to raise awareness about wildlife conservation.
