Objectif général
Contributing to an effective integrated and participative management of the marine and coastal ecosystem of the northern coast of Cameroon to ensure the long-term survival of its megafauna
Objectif spécifique
To improve the scientific baseline knowledge on marine megafauna and fisheries in the northern coast of Cameroon, to facilitate brainstorming and dialogues at various institutional levels regarding the improvement of the current model of local governance and land-use planning and to enhance the local perception of the aquatic megafauna on the north coast of Cameroon.
Résultat attendu
12 boat surveys are conducted along the territorial sea of the northern coast of Cameroon (50 km) in order to better know the diversity, relative abundance and habitat utilization by the megafauna species;

200 stakeholders are interviewed threw 6 focus groups in order to better know the direct and indirect anthropic threats to the marine and coastal ecosystem;

1 roadmap is elaborated to give recommendations on a model of sustainable and integrated management of the marine and coastal ecosystem;

2 000 persons are sensitized on the importance of the conservation of the megafauna;

A feasibility study of aquatic megafauna-based ecotourism is conducted to give alternative livelihood activities that are benefit for both fishers and aquatic megafauna
