Objectif général

To promote participatory management of wildlife as a conservation strategy for the ecosystems of the Congo Basin , and seeks to improve the well-being of communities on a more sustainable basis
Objectif spécifique
Contribute to the implementation of a system of participatory wildlife management in the eight pilot sites (two sites per country), propose approaches, methodologies, and tools, and training of project teams
Résultat attendu
The methodologies and tools that are considered most appropriate for the establishment of base lines for marketable products, the analysis and sustainability of their production, the analysis and development of value chains, the development of self-financing systems, and the development of business plans for entrepreneurs of the community are identified, presented and validated during the first workshop, and a strategy for their implementation via the scheduling of support missions is elaborated
Activité / Indicateur
A socioeconomic baseline survey of the target communities with a large emphasis on the commercialisation of wildlife products and other NTFPs;
Activité / Indicateur
The analysis of constraints in the sustainable management of each target product;
Activité / Indicateur
Analysis of the value change after identifying opportunities for increasing the revenues and added value in order to increase the income of the actors on the level of communities;
Activité / Indicateur
The identification and development of self-financing systems of community management of wildlife and other natural resources and the equitable distribution of costs and benefits of natural resource management;

The development of business plans for entrepreneurs and training in the field.
Résultat attendu
A synthesis of methodologies and tools with respect to the analysis and development of value chains are elaborated and validated during the second workshop organised by the Project.
Activité / Indicateur
Support for the first technical workshop. (i) Preparation of the workshop; (ii) Facilitation of technical sessions; (iii) An implementation strategy for support missions in 2014.

Support and advisory missions in between the two workshops. (i) Preparation of the missions with the four NTAs; (ii) Implementation of missions to the field for each pilot site; (iii) Building of local capacity based on requests by the four NTAs

c. Support for and to the second workshop of synthesis organised by the Project: (i) Critical analysis of reports, documents and other sources of information produced by the Project concerning the methodologies, tools and lessons learned regarding the development of value chains; (ii) Presentation of achieved results, and discussion and validation during the workshop; (iii) Support for scheduling the actions to take for the next phase of the Project; (iv) Drafting of a final synthesis report with a critical analysis of the methodologies and achieved results.
