State of the Forests 2015

The 2015 edition of the State of the Forests of the Congo Basin is a special issue published for the 21st Conference of the Parties in Paris. Indeed, it was expected that, during this conference, a global climate agreement could be concluded by the international community.

To support their participation in the Conference, the COMIFAC countries had planned several activities during 2015. Among these activities, it was decided to publish a special report on forests and climate change in Central Africa. This report therefore supports the Paris negotiations by highlighting both the role of tropical forests in mitigating climate change and the likely impacts of these changes on the adaptation of populations and ecosystems in Central Africa.

This special report benefited from major financial support from the European Union, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the French Development Agency (AFD). Coordination of the writing was entrusted to the COMIFAC Executive Secretariat and OFAC, with support from CIFOR and CIRAD. More than thirty authors participated in writing the six chapters that make up this report.
