This 2020 edition coordinated by three scientific publishers of CIRAD and OFAC-COMIFAC, brings together a fifty per cent of Central Africa and elsewhere. It draws up a harmonized portrait of the protected area network of the entire region. The report shows unambiguous that national networks and the sub-regional network have been strongly strengthened but face many challenges. Detailed analyzes, intended to inform decision-makers and managers, explore several important themes: governance, ecotourism, human-elephant conflicts, transhumance, mines and oil industry. This document shows the importance of protected areas for the sustainable development of Central Africa: it aims to contribute to a multi-sectoral dialogue and a better integration of these areas into country development strategies.
