The purpose of this project is to support a conservation effort in communities around the Biruwe-Nkuba Conservation Area, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, by promoting small-scale farming among families with hunters. The project is intended to conserve a population of Grauer’s gorillas that occur outside of a formal protected area, as well as other species like giant pangolins, that are threatened by unsustainable hunting for the commercial bushmeat trade.
